Air intake temp sensor

Great post. Just one question, I went to clean the ICV and when I started taking things apart I discovered the temp sensor sitting loose and the air box has an area where the sensor should go into but was never drilled out. I am assuming it can the way from BMW? Do I need to drill it out and install properly?

Thanks!
