530i washer pump

Greetings from Indiana! First time poster and less-than-one-week owner of a 2003 BMW 530i, 78K miles. Here's my query: My car was delivered in great shape from Ariz, was told all functions are working. In looking under the hood over the weekend, noticed that the intensive cleaning reservoir and the windshield reservoir both looked very low. I put in solution to both. The next day, we noticed some blue under the car, and looked at the intensive cleaning reservoir, and it was nearly empty again. At closer inspection, we looked at the washer pump (it was labeled 67-12-8-377-612), and it looked like it was fried. It appeared that is where the fluid was leaking. We also did a test (there was still some fluid that was in the bottom of the reservoir), and the headlight washers did not work when engaged. I thought the problem was simple - replace the headlight washer pump. Here's my quandry: in looking in my manual, it says the outside reservoir is the intenstive cleaning/headlight reservoir, the one that is nearby, but in more, is for the windshield (which works fine). That would make sense according to my early work. However, in looking at the parts, it says 67-12-8--377-612 is the windshield washer, and 67-12-6-973-097 is the headlight washer pump. Since it appeared fried and it was leaking, I was planning on replacing the first pump listed. But I am wondering it that indeed is the one that cleans the headlights, and if that should solve my problem, or if I am replacing the one that cleans the windshield (which currently works), and that my problem with the headlights is elsewhere. Hope this makes sense, any clarification will be much appreciated - and should I buy OEM or are other parts acceptable on a piece like this?

Since I have you...about the only other problem I am having (it was noted on the sale) is both front seats appear to tilt to one side when moving way up or back. In other words, when they are in the middle, front to back wise, they are fine, but when you move up, it tilts you to the right, and when you move back, it tilts you to the right. Both sides, although it appears the passenger seat is not as pronounced. Not a big deal, I have found a position that suits me fine, just wondered if that was normal, or if one track is off, or a motor issue, or something else. Easy fix or not. I am trying to avoid any big costs prior to my 90K check up.

Thanks!

Bob
