fuel filter

alright, I'm an engineer who drives a 1999 328i cabriolet with a 5-speed. On most cars, the fuel filter is in-line, however I don't know where exactly in the line it is, since I just bought my car a month ago. I wanna check the condition of the fuel filter. (And of course will be checking the air filter also) If anyone has done this to their own e36, please tell me where it is.

Jack up your car and take a look near the gearbox :)

I believe they are commonly under the passenger side rear and are just held on with a couple of hose clamps.
