BMW releases interior images of Concept Active Tourer

Unlike most concept car interiors, the passenger cell of the BMW Concept Active Tourer isn't awash in 28th century fancy. It rather looks like our near future, if not exactly what will come in the first generation of a 1 Series plug-in hybrid. Driver information is provided on a range of Black Panel displays, from the 10.25-inch configurable instrument cluster to the eight-inch central information display and the floating center console. One more display is located behind the wheel, a retractable glass full-color heads-up display that automatically adjusts to the ambient light.

From there things fall away into a sea of soft-grain leather with contrasting orange stitching and orange LED piping. Front seats in a "semi-command" position are meant to provide the best field-of-view, but one could argue that the rear passengers get the best of everything. The Travel & Comfort System puts clip-on tracks on the backs of the front seats that can be adapted to hold folding tables, tablet computers and storage bags. Tablet users can play Seismic Surf app, another variation on games for back-seaters that uses real-time information provided by the car. On the other hand, if it's room you need, the seats fold flat in three possible combinations.
