BMW Z Concept
please give me your honest opinion..this is my first try at a concept car, the base was the z9, but nothing except the interior and rims(which are modified from original) remain from the base. anyways, since this is a bmw forum, do you think this looks anything like a concept bmw would be interested in producing? as you can see, the front still needs alot of work, can't decide on light design. anyone have any ideas? owning a e30, i hate letting go of the original kidney grill style, but ofcourse, it can't stay the same forever! also, what do you think this looks more like? another Z or maybe a 3-series concept?

Yeah, that looks like a SC430.
Keep trying. I like the wheels/rotors.

Looks too British to me. I think you should include the kidney grille in your design. Not because change is bad, but because you are not working for BMW already. In order to successfully cause such a revolution, one would need to wrk from the inside. If you are thinking you would like them to look at your designs, then you need to design something that somehow is consistent with their existing lineup. Even as a portfolio piece, it is more valuable to show that you can adjust your designs to a pre-existing style. Creative freedom usually has to be earned first.
Good for a first stab, I guess. Work on your textures. Attention to detail is a must with these things.
Oh, and, longer.
Also, in industrial design you need to take into consideration both form and function. The hood you have designed is not ideal for air intake. I notice you have air dams that sit low, but that means that the design would demand that air travel up to the engine intake. GIven the length of the engine bay, there is no way you could fit intake conduits at a small enough angle to allow for good airflow. YOu would almost have the air have to take a right angle, which would absorb much of the air molecule's energy, and would result in limited airflow to the engine.
What did you use? Maya? Lightwave? 3DSMax? SolidWorks? what?

good try for a first man.. Yeah, make it a little longer though, and you cant really leave out the kidney grilles, and also, the hood area reminds me of VW bug for some reason...

wow, thanks for all the comments!
drz, i'll be sure to make those changes..it was all photoshop...had to brush everything and such so that's why it's not too great right now but i'm getting the reflections done right nowbut i'm in the process of learning 3d max and maya. i had the smaller/wider version of the mille miglia concept grill that extended the hood farther down, but just didn't look right. i'll give you all an update soon
