as for redlining..i redline 3-4 times a day if not more..car runs fine. spiffs old E30 had 200000 miles on it...and he still redlined it daily.

My trans is the same way, its getting worse actually, like if i try to put my shifter into the 2nd slot while im going 60 MPH, it just doesnt want to do it.

I think your right about the worn synchros. Im going to try some syncromax trans fluid, im hoping that will help.

Well this is a given. Its not good to redline your engine without any load on it.. and obviously if you miss a gear and over-rev thats not good either.

It is perfectly fine to redline your engine if you take care of it.

yeah downshifting seems to be the biggest problem, probably looking at an engine rebuild if you do that when your in a gear and already at pretty high revs.

Why would you downshift to 2nd at that speed, my car is redlining in 2nd at 60mph

He is just saying its nearly impossible to mishift in his car because of the worn synchros.

yea exactly

i can put it in 1st gear at 35mph..so i guess only my second gear synchro is bad(i dont let hte clutch out..i just put the tranny in the gear to see if it will do it cause 35 in first gear=the shits.
