my 99 328i has the gm trans. and its starting go, i've a trans. out of a 99 m3 i want to replace it with. does anybody know if it's possible and what kind of problems i may run in to?
Did te transmission come out of a 99 E36 or E46? Is it manual? The M3 used a ZF transmision. They both mate up to the engine block the same, but the length may be different. As long as their both manual it should be the same. Auto to manual you have to get a different driveshaft as their two lengths.
Take a look at the bottom and look For the label. The label will tell you the model of transmission. Do you have an M52 engine or M54? If you have an M52 it will bolt right up but check the tranny mounts to make sure their in the same place.
