Strange 'Trrrrrr' sound from engine

Hi Guys,
I have BMW 116i 2009 model. Since last 1 week or so, i start hearing this strange 'trrrrrr' sound while accelerating.

I googled this problem and foundout that the same problem is experienced by a few other people as well. But so far, i havent been able to find any reason/solution for this sound.

Just to demonstrate, please listen/watch these 2 youtube links that I found showing exactly the same problem.

Just to clarify again, the car showed in the above links is different from the one I have (116i – 2009).

I think one can only hear this sound while sitting inside and driving the car.

Could someone help me out on this?

Thanks.

Wow that's definitley an odd issue. It doesn't do that when idling? Have you tried getting a friend to sit in the car and push te throttle while you listen in the engine bay for it?

Since you said other people are experiencing this have you called te dealership to ask if a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has been issued regarding this problem. If their is a TSB about it then BMW may cover the fix, especially since your car is newer.

The sound would even come when the car is on stand still and the rpm goes up from 3k and onwards.

I will check for TSB.
