They must have deleted your post because there's no mention of any forums on there...

For everyone else, readers digest version:

Guy wants a car.
Delmarco replies "BMW 3 series...I drive one and its the best car money can buy and maintain."
Guy questions that
Del replies "maybe not THE best...but definately one the most rewarding and fun car to own and drive!"

Then they talk a little about how expensive the options are.

That's it.

New Car Time.

Any Suggestions?

I am looking to spend about $35k prior to tax CAD

Car MUST be Turbocharged. My Current picks that I am trying to decide through are:

Volvo S40 T5 6speed
Saab 9-3 Sport 5speed 2.0T
Audi A3 6speed 2.0T

T-Roy 08-11-2005 09:46 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like Audi...I read about a lot of reliability issues though... Not sure abut Saab or Volvo, I've never had a real interest in their cars.

stonent 08-12-2005 09:30 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

35,000.00 CAD Canada Dollars = 29,253.31 USD United States Dollars

I'm guessing those are all 4 Cyl engines. Is that what you are looking for or is that just what's in your price range?

Are you favo(u)ring speed and style or economy?

ScOObydoo 08-12-2005 11:38 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Subaru Impreza WRX?

ScOObydoo 08-12-2005 11:39 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saab's are just beefed up GM's (or even half Subaru like in the 9-5), Volvo is not what it used to be, so IMHO that only leaves Audi, I love Audi. Good decent German workmanship, plenty of power and a lot of buttons

remoteshoppe 08-12-2005 12:03 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would definitely go Audi but the A3 is a bit small. Have you looked at the new VW Passat? I just got a 2005 and love it. German engineering goes a long way

Girion 08-12-2005 01:29 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've always liked the VW GTi, but I'm probably going to end up with the Acura TSX because my girlfriend likes it.

The GTi is a real slick ride, the 1.8T has the same engine as my buddies 2002 A4 and smokes it all the time.

well, i just priced out a 330 sedan. they sure do charge a lot for options. i think it ended up being right at $50K after i finished with it, so bleh... $14K in accessories/options (reasonable ones, at that) is not really what i had in mind. :-)

Guess 08-14-2005 12:11 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just put a deposit down on a Volvo S40 T5 6 speed (5 cylinder TurboCharged 218HP) amazing inside and out and drives much better then the bmw, saab or audi.

Are they throwing in the Sport package for you?

I have a strong dislike for the rear styling on the lights...but looking at it; and otherwise great car.

Sport Package, Dynamic Package, Premium Package, Audio Package.

All packages that are available

I love the overall styiling of the car including the rear lights.

I didn't really get the feel that the guy was hooked on bmw either...

And what's with the one dude saying he thought the Volvo drove better than BMW. I mean they are great cars, safe and what not. But no way in hell does one of those have moer feel and character than a bimmer. They are sluggish and diconnected. But eh, to each his own...

Yeah some of them are quick as hell - but I took on a dude in a v70 tonight through a series of bends - I went past him at 110mph on a nice long bend (but kinda tight all the same) like he was standing still - mind he did beat a 320i through it!! - damn 320i dude let us down!

Wait so the line was that BMW's are the most fun cars to own. What was the "sinker"? The fact that the guy is not buying one because of the price? Sweet man!! He's hooked!
