do you think its possible..

.. that bmw may be callobarting with infinity since designs and other things are becoming similar like that suv or van thing

TerryY 06-09-2005 09:37 PM

Infinity and Lexus spent a lot of time over the years melding in parts of BMW and MBs designs.

I think it is called copying :)

witeshark 06-09-2005 09:56 PM

I tend to agree with TerryY :)

komodo 06-09-2005 11:52 PM

It's not called copying in the automotive industry. It's called corporate research.

witeshark 06-09-2005 11:58 PM

Yeah, so it is

BMWLotAttendant 06-10-2005 12:17 AM

Who first designed the headlights to move when you go around a corner?

I think it was Lexus. Then BMW "corporate researched" and discovered it.

What do you think?

i think you need to check your time line son. im pretty sure BMW came out with those LONG before lexus. just lexus advertises it so suckers think its important where as its just an xtra on a bimmer

like ( lexus?) advertising thier car uses "uv technology" to clean the air coming in... sounds cool. but the box you put the chem lab glasses in at my old HS used UV light to do the same thing, and has for many many years. another situtaion where a company is selling the dumbest thing.... to the dumbest people

i believe it was a honda or accura add where it seemed to be describing a differential as a marvel of science... i honestly zone out car commercials

i'd have to agree after the jeep commercial showing how the new jeep cherokee accelerates faster than a 325xi and an audi tt, obviously these cars are in the same class? and of course the person who wanted the 3-series is gonna see that commercial and say to themselves well i gotta get the jeep now???

Rooz 06-10-2005 12:08 PM

I jsut think that infinity is tealing ideas from BMW, last time I remember BMW colaborating with anyone, was with Swatch...

The auto industry is all about competition and copying... always has been always will be, no big deal

I believe that the first articulated headlights were done by Tucker in about 1948.

GM had a concept car with them in the '50s-'60s

Rooz 06-10-2005 04:01 PM

^^ U're right but I think the all Fender moved..., the "tucker' was also the first car with "Reverse"

Such a very good point! About lights, my uncle told me that in the same meaning, Cadillac and Corvette and some other cars have cornering lights, bright white lights on the lower front fender that lights with the corresponding turn signal. I'd like to try those out! :videogame

Tucker--Center light pointed where the wheels did.

That is so amazing! I wonder why it didn't catch on! For one thing, the middle is a gread place for a headlight! :drive2
