1999 323i cracked flywheel.
 

looking for some input. my daughter's 323 cracked the flywheel, all of a sudden. took it to the shop 2 weeks ago for right rear axle bearing replacement. after about 1 week it started making a funky noise, took it to a transmission shop......cracked flywheel. is this a common problem? haven't seen it posted anywhere. next question, looking at buying the spousal unit an X5. any year better or worse than the others? thanks in advance for any help. mark g (baghdad, iraq......for 4 more weeks!!!!!!!)

i have never heard of a cracked flywheel, nor do i know how that could possibly happen... is this a reputable shop?

was looking at a 2004 x5 just tonight, great reviews but 16mpg/22hywy kinda scares me off. real sporty good looking ride tho.
