A good lock oil may help, it helped a lot on my '89. Welcome :wave

thanks. i tried wd40...not much luck.

i would tried graphite, but its probably too far gone to have been of any use anyway. the drivers door cylinder sometimes get too worn out if not kept lubricated, especially since it is most used. in my old e30, it was easy to lock, but difficult to unlock. and if double locked, forget it. to fix it you can get a cylinder repair kit from bmw, should be less than $100.

in my old E30 i stopped using it when it got worn out, and used the trunk instead. in my current E30 i spread it out between the trunk, drivers, and passenger door, and also keep all the locks lubricated.

thanks..what about my locks going nuts..up/ down constantly?...also, my interior lights do not shut off all the time when I close the car

Wait did the e30 come with automatic locks? I'd suggest maybe a relay or something. The lights also might be that switch near the hinge of the door. Also try this http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...l-Problems.htm it may help if no one else knows.

thanks pal!

If these suggestions don't work out I have seen a lot of people have issues where solders have broken on a component in the kick pannel of the drivers side. There may also be a connection issue within the door, but it might just be a lubrication problem.

actuator

silly question?...i'm having trouble w/ the locks opening/ closing suddenly. i remeoved the driver side lock actuator and the problem still persists. i can even open and close the lock w/ the key. isnt this what the actuator does?..why is the door locking w/ key? i dont get it

witeshark 01-25-2008 01:19 PM

The linkage is loose enough to cause the switch in the cylinder to be stuck in locking or unlocking contact, most likely.

insane..central lock

hello..how do you "unlock" central locking system....i can open my gas door..and cannot open any door except drivers w/ key..all doors are locked..cannot even open from the inside...help..going crazy!!!!!!!

nick_318is 01-27-2008 10:48 AM

^Might want to pull the fuse for the system then I think you should be able to use the Key on the doors. As for the gas tank, once you get into your trunk move the barrier (lining in the trunk) on the passenger side and near the gas tank door there is a little lever type of thing that you can push and unlock the gas door.
