the original Mig9 ( russian fighter plane) was made with BMW engines.

im not sure torque, but that is cool bmw made them

komodo-so the roundel actually was inspired by airplane propellers?

Sure was! And the only car maker that makes aircraft power now that I can think of is Rolls Royce, which makes turbo fan jets for airliners. Possibly other planes as well.

Ferdinand Porsche did the Tiger tanks At least in part.

Rolls Royce was the powerplant of choice for British and US fighters during WWII

I think that I remember Bugatti was building aircraft motors for the Italians before WWII. Fuzzy remember though

hey I caught the show right after I posted the last comment.. Very interesting.. I love watching the Modern Marvels show.. Did any of you see the one about the Millau bridge in France?? They moved the ROAD for the bridge by using hydraulics.. They would lift, then move, then life, then move.. crazy stuff..

Now that you mention it, the Porsche boxer 6 is installed in some Mooney planes. Makes sense since it's air cooled -- critical to not have to rely on liquid cooling in a plane! Very neat about the bridge Beem
