I have always wanted a BMW since I was in high school. To me, I grew up on Long Island, it was the ultimate status symbol that would demonstrate financial success. I grew up poor. When I finally finished dental school and could afford a BMW. I test drove an E39 M5. I was hooked on BMW for all of the right reasons, style, handling, looks, engineering and found a sweet deal on my 540i.

when i was younger(about 14 or so) i was a MAJOR car freak, but i really liked the toyota celicas and always thought BMW was for "stuck up rich people". i was surfing youtube one day and found a video of an e36 m3. i think it had straight pipes on it. the second he hit the gas, i KNEW i had to have one once i get a new job, im going to get a 325is, then move up to the m3

breathe some life into this OLD thread. i started out with an 87 e30 325e alpine white auto when i was 15 sold it with 400,000 miles . next car was an 85 e30 325e 5spd burgandyrot with ///m steering wheel spoiler and sport seats. sold it after a year and purchased my '00 e39 528i steptronic jet black so far ive installed a double din pioneer avic f700bt , style 66 staggered wheels, smoked lights all the way around new fogs and i am getting ready to do the ///m front and rear bumpers in the next few months . bmws came easy to me as my old man is bmw master tech. all ive ever driven. all ill ever drive.

from the 1st time i drove a couple of them at the bmw plant(335,135,545,z4) the torque and power from the kick of 1st gear that damn near took me into the rear seat. the glance down at 160mph and thanking god for traction control as i fly by my friends mom in the 545. thats what converted me

When the E36 dolphins were introduced in South Africa I fell in love with the car and I was still schooling and when I went to buy a car I bought the E36 which I don't regret buying, it's a german car, strong, reliable, powerful, no matter how old it is as long as you replace genuine part with genuine you'll forget that you car is older than your child. The leather interior is comfortable and friendly usable, I once drove the latest chevrolet but compared to my 93 e36, my bm is the best with everything eve though it's motor paln expired ages ago.

Your Ride: STILL SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER BMW
I got sick and tired of driving domestics, and the Japanese cars just didn't turn my crank.

Your Ride: '89 535i
I was 19 years old, working at a little garage in Nashville, TN to pay for my college. We had a regular customer who had an '86 325, came in for tire rotations, oil changes and inspections pretty regular. The car had about 280k miles on it, and I did a repair that required a test drive one day. Needless to say, WOW. I was expecting a typical old high mileage POS, but it drove like a brand new car. Fast forward 5 years: The wife's sister acquired a 535i, brings it to our house. She drives her sister to town in it, falls in love the same way.
She asks me that evening, "why does that old car drive so good?" I told her, "That's just how well a BMW is made." Well, she said "I want one, I'm not driving that Cherokee anymore." ok with me. So she traded my old Dodge truck, which I'll miss, for the 535i. I hope she never wants anything else, I'm tickled pink. Getting ready to take it up in the Monongahela Nat'l Forest to test out the car, and hopefully not my radar detector, . Everything is easier if you have the wife's approval before you start. Now to convince her it needs more power :P. My dad was a DSM guy before he passed, so I'm used to a little more oomph than the old m30 has out of the box.

It is the BMW timeless design and raw power. I bought my first BMW E30 as a beater to go back and forth to work. Within six months my respect for the E30 was uncontested!

Simple, BMW is the benchmark for excellence in all things automotive, many try to emulate the king of the road, but they all fall short. Anyone who drove on the Autobahn or Autostrada over 130 MPH for long periods of time would quickly understand.
