I bought one because I get parts at cost, then I bought another one. Replace some suspension and do a good tune up and its just as good as driving a brand new camary. Plus it rides and handles better.
I also know how to work on them so I guess thats a plus too.

I had a CJ7 that was a little rusty, a bit beat up, but ran like a champ...it was stolen 30 days after I bought it, at a Christmas Parade of all things! I saw the guy who sold my wifes Acura TL to us, gave him the story and he said they just got a 323i sedan in and could treat me right.
I didn't have much experience with Bimmers at the time, kind of thought they were overrated (sorry) until I was at a Susan G Komen Breast Cancer drive. My wife sat shotgun in an 06' 745i. Part of the run was on the Interstate, we made it to 80 within a few seconds, then a Camaro wanted to run us. He was a redneck version something that could have been cool. We both nailed it at 80...and as my wife began our shit eating grins from ear to ear, I started to realize just what the slogan meant, "The Ultimate Driving Machine" indeed. Needless to say, the Camaro was a spec in the rearview when I let off the throttle.
I had to sell my 323 to get wood floors (thank you Harley-my Golden Retriever), and now, with the move to Texas, I am hoping to trade the Acura in for another Bimmer. Perhaps one with 6 gears!
I'm similar to mullet: owning my BMW has inspired me to buy another.
I will humbly disagree. The E36 looks like an early to mid/90s automobile, which is precisely what it is. still looks good, yes, but it isn't timeless. E46 is more timeless then the 36, IMO.
I guess it is a matter of opinion! My brother owns an e46 and he likes the E46's Body style better than the E36!

E30 doesn't look horrible even 25 years later. I doubt if a student is going to have an interest in owning one
E36 still looks good I gotta admit. Interior might not be as good as E46 but the looks and surely drive feeling would be great. (Never driven one but am going on looks lol).
E92 vs. E46.... hmmmm E46 is what inspired me to get a BMW so i'll stick with E46. The newer models fail to beat the looks of the E46 models
Ever since my first 1977 320i, I always loved the way these cars performed and looked. I think BMW is one of the best cars made. It seems there is always room for a little extra emprovement with modes when it comes to these cars. I'm sorry but I cant just drive a regular BMW. I like to be noticed when driving my BMW. And noticed I always am, even in the year 2008 !

I have always been a car enthusiast. From the first time i saw an E36 M3 I always had a thing for their styling design. the more I looked into them the more I wanted to own one. And then..... MY FIRST RIDE!!! After that ride in a BIMMER it was over. I now have an E36 325is and love it!! Becoming more and more of a BMW nut the longer i stayed logged into this forum too.

as far as timelessness of the vehicles. BMW has many classics and many great series to choose from. It will all end as a matter of opinion. to each his own. Mine being the E36. A lot of guys the E30 and E46's and so on and so on.
