MIght get an engine for the 318

so my buddy wrecked his z3. I am curious what you guys think if i were to purchase it for a few hundred and throw it in the 318. I know theres more to it then that obviously.
from a 2001 Z3. 2.5ltr

would it swap right in as far as motor mounts go?

the engine from what the insurance adjuster says is still good. NOthing wrong with it. Do you think there could be something with it? what would i look for.

Im thinking i want to try and start it up for a few seconds to make sure it will start.

how about the wiring harness? Where would i have to take it from. how far back from the engine?

I would need the ECu also?

any advice would be good. I would be doing it in my garage. Dads an engineer and has worked on a lot of cars, so he can also help me out. i have all of the tools. Money, well thats another thing. what would be the cost of just getting it running?

obviously i would do suspension, but not before its running.

i think the mounts on the 4 and 6 cylinder models are in different places, but nevertheless people have done it, heck, they've even put v12's in the e30s!

What motor is in the z3, if its an m50, m52 I think it will work and it has been done many a time and is well documented.

These Guys have a DVD/instructions for that setup. http://www.treehouseracing.com/
