Are all Bimmers built in Germany? Where was yours built? You can get the info, from the tag inside d/s door or the engine compartment!!!!

This is in regards to subframe cracks on certain e46's!!!

Um, okay... most BMW's are made in Germany. However, there is a BMW factory in Spartanburg, SC. They build the X5, X3, E36 3-series (since 1996), Z3 and Z4. The E46 3-series was built in a factory in Regensburg, Germany.

Your VIN number will tell you where the car was manufactured. (Check the first three characters.)
WBA: factory in Munich
4US: factory in Spartenburg
WBS: M-factory

The first character of the VIN denotes where it was made.
1, 4, & 5 - USA
2 - Canada
3 - Mexico (check your VW)
S - England
Y - Sweden
W - Germany
V - Spain
T - Portugal
U - Ireland

etc...

p.s.
!!!!!!!

gld, only some of the E36 from 1996 on were made in Spartanburg. You would need to check your VIN for sure.
