Please Help - BMW Man. Transmission I.D.
Hi everyone, this is my first post to this forum. We are a German auto-shop located in New Jersey and have been in business for over 30 years. We recently were doing some cleaning up in the shop and came across a few brand new BMW transmissions that, despite our hardest efforts, have not been able to be identified. Attached I have several pictures which include all markings on the transmissions body. It is a ZWN GETRAG transmission What we do know is that it is a manual transmission and the head mechanic seems to think it may belong to a 5Series (1988-1989). Any help would be greatly appreciated. hmm. I think the 3 series from that year and the 5 series used the same transmissions. What might help is this website. Try to email them and ask them what the actual name is. Im almost certain its the same transmission in my 318. But i may be wrong. http://www.getrag.de/

yup. those are transmissions. edit: i was jk. i was looking in realoem.com and doing a parts search with the numbers given, and i couldnt find anything. are there any other 11 or 7 digit numbers that could possibly be bmw parts nums on it?

We have several tools we use for parts etc, mostly what BMW uses at the dealership and none of the numbers on the trans are recognized. The guys at www.2carpros.com were able to come up with some info so I'll post it here in case anyone in the future has a similar issue: Transmission is: 260 GETRAG 5 speed transmissions for E-28 535 late production also fits many others. 23-00-1-221-208 is the part# Thanks for you time guys. |
