If this is your first car you must choose wisely grasshopper. If care is not put into you decision, it could cost you more in the long run. If it is your first super fast could me a lot of trouble with Johny law. I speek form experiance, hot rod American muscle car + 250 plus HP + 17 year old kid with license and 1st car = 35+ points on license and 45 day suspenson, not cool in less than 1 year
Besides, if it is BMW you want, you just have to look. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a nice car if you are willing to do some work. I got mine for alot less than 10K and a little work I got a nice running BMW.
Living in Philly, an Xi may be a good choice if it is going to be a dailly driver.
One last thought grasshopper....insurance you have to factor in the insurance...thats all I have to say about that

yea I will. I have a question for Carmine-I How did you get 35 points in a year I still have 0. I think 35 is a little much becuase in the tristate area meaning NJ,NY,PA if you get 5 points you get it suspended for a year, so 35 I would get banned from driving for life probably possibly even prison time.

Not to repeat what everyone else said but:
VWs can be fun, reliable and you can do a lot of modding for a decent price.
Japanese imports are reliable and fun. If you blow a motor or tranny, they are way cheaper to replace those parts than any BMW. I love the old school 300zx, they rock.
BMWs are wonderful driving machines that have a lot of potential. They can be costly to mod. Don't let the size of the engine fool you, they can be quite a handful to drive and handle.
Good luck with your search. When you find a car, post a link so that we can all see it. May the German Gods help you find the ultimate driving machine

Damn Man that's a crazy crash it looks like it flipped and then lit up, I didn't say I'm going to get a 500hp car I could only handle it if I was driving normally like every other car not pushing it. But those cars you can only push so your right I would probably shit myself driving and R8, Viper , or a Vetter. I was just looking at some Saleen Mustangs, domestic is not really my style but the saleen ones look pretty nice. Did anyone ever hear anything about them?

saleens are ncie cars. Fast depending on what years you get them. Ive driven a V8 mustang..handled like a boat...but got to 60 pretty quickly. Meh at the way it handled. (it was a 2003 i think).
Owner actually ended up wrecking it into a tree braking from a straight away.

Your Ride: Nothing right now
Thats what happens when one tire slides off the road at 140 miles an hour. The fact that it was an M3 made no difference in whether or not he was going to be going that fast, but it did made the difference between being medivac'ed out and being taken away in a body bag. And your missing the point. 500 HP is 500HP no matter what car you're in. A blown E36 M3 is just as likely to kill you as teh vette posted above. I was just trying to put into perspective what 500HP really is, as well as how little it really takes to do some damage.
For an 18 year old, stick with something like a scion or a V-dub or something.
