E60 M5 Turbo?

http://www.fastlanedaily.com/episode/fld_20070914

check the link, particularly around 2:46. Spys reports seem to indicate the possible development and testing of an E60 M5 with a turbo or two on the already power heavy S85 V10.

thoughts?

im not a big fan of the E60, but the current M5 is to be respected. but slap some FI in there and there can be a whole lot of power being put to that fat rubber. is BMW pushing into the realm that is occupied by those higher end MB AMG's?

discuss?

a turbo m5? is that even possible? lord, BMW's really changed from what they used to be. anyone remember when BMW used to say that forced induction was a shortcut to power?

(however a turbo m5 would rock my socks)

i love the E60. ahh...

anyways..with twin turbos...my god.

i tested the 335, fast car. Cant imagine a N/A M5...and then a twin turbo M5. That would eat audi and MB alive. IMO atleast

Oksana Baiul is reading phonetics off the teleprompter. At first I thought she was retarded and didn't know her own name, but then I realized that she barely speaks english and is reading phonetics.

Oh, and i feel bad for the cameraman that was trying to pan with the SSC. Rofl. Though i must say, The Veyron is quite possibly the sexiest car on the planet, and the SSC can't even begin to compare in that category.

$100,000,000 fine for cheating... and people thought the Bill Belicheck fine was steep.

I agree . . there's something to be said about a fast car that's NA. But I imagine they're doing the turbo thing to try to maintain halfway decent fuel economy? And if this comes to fruition, will the M6 eventually go that route as well?

Numark- you test drove a 335i? I'm jealous, I hate you

AMG and VAG (see RS6) have gone obscene with their powerplants, so BMW is keeping up with the hp war.

It may be getting a bit ridiculous. Track instructors groan at just the thought of a Corvette on the course.

i remember the days when they said that FI was a shortcut, but then i realized that all these years they have been building turbo diesels. they basically just brought that technology over to the N54. i guess BMW just has to keep up.

good point dudesky, a turbo M6, that would be the ticket.

if fuel economy is a priority, i think even a standard M5 would be out of the question.

Well. They also don't seem to want to keep going up in displacement (am I the only one that thinks that putting a 6.3 liter engine in a C class is ludicrous?). Especially for the 1 and 3, they would like to stay with the inline-6 -- the engine that has done so much for them.

thats because diesels have absolutly no power without their turbos. diesels basicly NEED the turbos to get things moving.

The M5 turbocharged is crazy but the car that is now the fastest in the world is just ridiculous.
