As long they go down in price and not up.(which the B10 BiTurbo will, but it's not that much now so it could be reasonable)

Umm they're only the most powerful SUV on the market.
2006 Escalade
6.0L V8, 345 HP SAE @ 5,200 rpm; 380 ft lb.
2006 X5 4.8is
4.8L V8, 225 HP SAE @ 5,900 rpm; 214 ft lb
2006 Cayanne
4.5L V8, 340 HP SAE @ 6,000 rpm; 310 ft lb
2006 Range Rover
4.4L V8, 305 HP SAE @ 5,750 rpm; 325 ft lb
Hmmm, I wonder why? Plus, I've driven many an Escalade, and I'm loving them.

This post was impossible to read... The X5 4.8i is rated at 350 hp and 350ft-lb, if that is what you were trying to communicate.

We all are wrong. I got wrong information. Here is the correct information.
The 4.8is has 355-hp, 32-valve, V-8 engine making 369 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm.
The 4.6 has 340hp.

aside from all that, the SUV with the best power to weight ratio is the new Jeep SRT. its slightly better than a Cayenne Turbo-S.

sorry for this off-topic SUV nonsense, but i still don't understand. i would never want an escalade because i HATE SUVs. i hate the lack of acceleration, i hate the bad handling, i just do not like SUVs. IF i were to get an SUV, it would have to be something smaller like a jeep wrangler; THAT would be okay. but an escalade? stick with that E39 in your sig.

This should help you understand: BMWLotAttendant likes SUVs. That is why he wants one. If he's gonna have one, he figures he wants the one with the most power and acceleration out tehre.

Thank you all for your inputs.
But yes, I'm still a couple years away from having money and SAVING from working a salaried, 6am-230pm job. It'll take time and I'm sure my feelings for my 1st car after college will change as time progresses.
Once again thank you.

there's nothing wrong with an SUV if you have use for one. That little Benz unit handles like an E36 or similar same w/BMWs X5 - the Benz is a little better because of wheel stance (width & tire/wheel combo), but lacks perf of the X5 regardless of what they publish as rated HP. HP ratings are so mis-leading because it's irrelavant unless you compare the weight of the vehicle in the equation. IE: You could have a 500hp V12 but it's pretty lame if it's in a Peterbuilt.

right, i gathered that he likes them. i just personally can't stand them as a daily driver. if you have a use for them, then that's fine. i'll let this topic rest. its a battle of opinions and i wasn't looking for a fight.

Tough Choice
My father has an '04 BMW M5, and my brother has a '00 M3, I drive a '00 Z3 2.3 , my dad also drives a '05 X5 4.4 and my mom an '01 525it.
After driving all of these cars, my favorite is the M5.
There is just nothing like driving something that looks like an average 5 series, but packs such a punch. The M3 is a blast to drive, but the 04 M5 looked better than the 00 M3.
As for the "bangle butt" on the E 60 M5, I think it's ugly as hell.
If I were in your place, I would either get an 05 M5 or an 00 or later M3.
The M3 is still an excellent car, it's just not quite as refined as the M5. Two door cars are easier to park and such, but rear passengers will not be happy in an M3.
Here's a pic of our collection of Ms :-)
