you want details? YOU CANT HANDLE THE DETAILS! anways, a little history about the car while he owned it.
he found it in a junk yard upside down on its roof. he bought it for $70 in 1980. and believe it or not, the original title was in the glove box. he then rebuilt the original 1300 engine(40 HP). after that he drove the hell out of it. taking up on huge trips through mountains in clolorado and a buttload of other places. then he tought some girl how to drive stick in it. he THEN had to replace the engine, rebuild the transmission, and get a new clutch. it now has a 1600 engine in it with new exhaust and intake, wich makes it about 60 HP. after he did all that, he parked it in that ally thing (the same place that it was in in the first picture i posted of it) and there it has sat in that spot for 15 years or so. he started it up about once a year or so just to get everything moving. the wheels on it are from an old pontiac and are pretty rare. |
Great story! :clap

sweet. You should write books. Anyway...tahts sweet. As for the bug..itll be a sweet project.
Pics as progress comes along |
yeah, there will be alot of pics O_O
right now i have to worry about getting it moving before getting the baja stuff. right now the front left brakes are stuck a little, so i gotta fix that, then i gotta rebuild the carb, then clean the gas tank and lines cause right now its running off of a lawn mower gas tank hanging above the engine. lol. you can see it in the engine pics. im going to wake up at 6 tomarrow and hopfully get the tank and lines cleaned and maybe get the brakes cleaned out before school. |
wow you should definately drop a 350 in there, oh yeah, and get a new sig

Nice bug! Now join some VW forum...Hehe
|
nice find dude that thing looks f*ckin clean!
|
on my *project* truck that I have, when one of the calipers was stuck I just bled it, and rebuilt it. Not sure if a parts store would have vw bug calipers, or rebuild kits for sale, where you trade them the old one for like $30 off.
|
well what i did is just take everything off and clean the shit out of it. there was just so much crud on it that it caused it to stick.
|
Don't ever let that lil' bug die. Keep it on the road/sand/dirt whatever. It's history is strong enough to will it to your kids ha. And damn, it's really got wood interior?? That alone makes it stick out.
Dough Sorry for rehashing an old thread, don't really check this section too often. |
