Deloriant's CF Hood

Hey Deloriant, I kinda remember you mentioning you ordered a CF hood, but never heard anything else about it. Did you get it installed and did the fitment have any issues? Got any pics?

Thanks. :redspotda

Oh wow, I didn't realize CF was that shiney. haha, that looks awesome.

zeaq328i 07-05-2005 10:56 AM

So are you gonna to plan it on your car?

komodo 07-05-2005 11:01 AM

I'm not sure yet... anyone have any pics of a CF hood on a silver e36? haha

It's a consideration.

xsperf 07-05-2005 11:04 AM

i dont think they are that shiny either, that one looks like it was painted black

DEATH2000 07-05-2005 11:05 AM

I would do it, im planning to get one for my car by next summer hopefully. One of our sponsors has one for like $600 US shipped

jrhaile 07-05-2005 11:09 AM

I don't like the look unless it's on a darker color car IE black or dark blue or dark grey.. it looks out of place on that red car because everything else is so red.. if he had a CF roof, trunk, etc I could see it..

komodo 07-05-2005 11:12 AM

If I got a CF hood, I'd also get the uuc adjustable cf spoiler to balance it out a bit.

jrhaile 07-05-2005 11:34 AM

Harry, your car is an automatic :P CF is used for racing purposes at least that's what I thought it was for. It's lighter and reduces weight to race. I think your money would be better spent swapping a RACING transmission in ie a 5 or 6spd. In fact, there is a group buy on dtm for an evo 6spd for like 2000 for the kit. This is just my opinion and take it for what it's worth, but I think CF is becoming too tacky and used too much in cases where it's not needed. If you want visuals, start with a new bumper and rear bumper whether it be a AC or M3.

lol, harry's not the only one that needs a tranny swap. But by next week i'll have two cars and one will be a 5 speed!!

jrhaile 07-05-2005 12:34 PM

I'm not saying he needs to swap the tranny, but I would almost say it's rice to put CF on any automatic imo. Sure BMW's auto's are pretty good, but it's just not a 5spd. I just don't like the look of CF at all. Every honda and jap car I see has tons of it on there and I just don't htink it belongs on a bimmer unless it's really being used for it's main purpose which is to reduce weight and race.

dont feel bad harry mines an auto too. and everyday i wish it was a 5 speed.

I love that look on deloriant's car, I always wanted to know what carbon fiber was like on hellrot and now I know I love it. But I agree that it needs to be balanced, A carbon fiber adjustable spoiler would set it off, maybe carbon fiber mirrors, carbon fiber front bumper lip.

xsperf 07-05-2005 02:35 PM

you could get the carbon fiber hood and paint it blue.. im sure jrhaile would be fine with that :)
