At last, my promise fulfilled...

I remember promising pics a few weeks ago when I joined but couldn't. The car went through a weird stalling fiasco for which it spent most of its time in the shop.

After that I just didn't have time. But alas! Today was a beautiful day to take pics, despite me almost forgetting and taking them at sunset... but here we go:

Bottlecaps FTW!

Im lovin her! But those facrtory rims and the height are killin it lol ... check out getting it lowered for sure and get some nice rims nothing stupid like 18"s or some gay shiz. lol
Mine are only 16" and i think look great.. overall im jealous lol she is a verry clean looking ride! Gotta love the headlights to.... Oh and u may want to consider tucking the bumpers.. how is up to you but the result looks amazing when done.. i know a couple tricks to it to that will help u if u are interested.
And last thing ill add is the lack of chrome trim around windows and such only further inspires me to shadow mine out lol.. Looks great!

If I was going to do anything to the bumpers, it would have to be the Euro bumper conversion if it's possible. I just don't think the tucked bumpers looked quite right compared to the Euro bumpers. If the Euro bumpers aren't possible, then I might consider the tuck, but we'll see.

I can't afford to spend about $2000 on rims and suspension all at once. I might get away with it if I just buy the rims (and tires) first and then lower it later when I have money, but it wouldn't look quite right. There's a guy in my neighborhood who put 17's on his Golf but didn't lower it so it looks really ghey. I could lower it first, but that wouldn't look right either with the bottlecaps on. If I had the money, I'd get the O.Z. Ultraleggera rims in 16's. I've got Kosei K1's in 15's but they're mounted to R-compound tires and I dedicated that set of wheels to the track. I really want the O.Z.'s but simply can't afford to buy the rims and then have to buy new tires on em'. Even the rims by themselves is not possible right now. Maybe later when my regular tires wear out, I'll buy a set of tires for the Kosei's and swap the R's on them to all-season so I could use it, but I don't know how it looks yet [I just bought the rims for a reeeeeeeeeeally good price]. I've gotta mount them on a nice day to see how they look and perform with the tires...

I'm really limited in what I can do seeing as my salary is crap and that times are tough. Not a good combo. My brother wanted to do the lowering the ghetto way; cut a part of the springs. Is that possible? Would it work? I don't want the car to be lower on one side than the other! lol

I would never buy used tires unless they're got almost full tread left and are a reeeeally good price. Rims I am going to completely forget about buying on craigslist because all of the rims for sale in my area are CRAP looking. There are some "decent" ones but they are chrome and I'd rather eat my own puke than intentionally put anything chrome on my car. I am also very picky when it comes to rims; about 90% of the available rims today I do not like the styling of. I'm the kind of person who thinks rims should be given serious though to as to which car it's being applied on. It has to look right, it has to flow, and most important, it has to look like it would be something a performance tuner would actually use, not some ugly chrome 17" rims (on an E30) that look like a plate (no spokes, shit like that). I'm thinkin' BBS, O.Z., big manufacturers who make quality rims. You won't find quality rims on craigslist in my area, that's for sure.

Besides, where I live includes the most people with really strange taste when it comes to rims. Hell, there's a guy up the street who completely pimped out.... a Chevrolet Astro van, and that wouldn't be so disgusting if he didn't have fake plastic SPINNERS on his wheels. *Ack*

lol i agree.

People who put hubcap spinners on anything deserve to have thiel license revoked for good lol..
And i totally agree with u on proper rim selection.. Its to bad where u live there is nothing good up.
Where i live i can get a set of increadible rims for really cheap off craigs . and i even see factory BMW rims with good rubber for sale..
The kind of rims ur talking about are great rims but expensive... lol
Just curious since i been talkin to u alot what do u think about my baby so far? and what all i have done to it?
BTW i have 16" borbet's on my ride and think they look great and they were by no means cheap lol...

Oh and yes chrome is the devil!!!

Well we are on slightly different ends of the styling spectrum. There are particular mods that I think take away from the original appearance of the car and some of those mods have been done to yours. All-in-all, I love the color of your car, (Zinnoberrot, correct?) and once you black out your trim, it's gonna be in-line with what I think is the perfect E30 color. How often do you see a red BMW?

The rear lights aren't my cup of tea, honestly. Makes it relate to some of the mods certain Civics have here, but then again, I know quite a few bimmer enthusiasts in my state who just happened to have that particular taillight, so I guess that's a matter of personal preference. Everything's a matter of personal preference, really.

That front bumper you have in one of the pics is ticking well with me. It relates a bit to an MTech style bumper but it's obvious that it's not. I like it a lot better than diving boards and would consider one if I had money.

Rotors, red calipers...

I think that's a good rear spoiler you've got there, but that middle brake light is just strange. If that wasn't there, it would get my vote.

I want an E30 that looks like this but in red:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-3...m120266258997&

... and without the eye lids. I'd rather have an eyebrow that gives it a sinister look.

If I was good at customizing things, I would do something similar to what I saw on the forums earlier. It was a meet that some UB guys had and one of them had this jaw-dropping E46 with angel eyes. The outer rings were standard white and the inner rings were blue. I'd make my inner rings a sort of medium red and the outer rings white. Add the eyebrows and you have an intimidating creature in your rear-view...

... then I'd give it a black painted carbon fiber hood to match my theme. So, imagine a black hood with a black grille but red fenders, eyebrows, and bumpers. The black would just flow right down the middle. Hopefully with the Euro bumpers, I'd be able to add a custom EU license plate that actually has my license plate info on it but on the standard EU plate. Maybe in place of the Euro bumpers I'd put an M-Tech bumper if possible.

Along the side, I would want to have discreet side skirts that don't make the front or rear bumpers obnoxious from the side. Depending on how large the skirts are, I'd have them painted black.

Perhaps roll the fenders a bit and give er' some 215 or 225 tires. Maybe the roll won't be necessary.

The rear would consist of the boot deck lid spoiler from an 'is' or 'es' model painted black with a standard red boot and M rear bumper. Exhaust stays the way it is or maybe paint it black if it gets too rusty looking. The rear lights would be ever so slightly tinted; smoked if you will, but not so much as to not see the clear distinction between brake lights, turn signals, and reverse lights. You'd still be able to see the coloring of the lights, but the whole light would be darker. Same Euro plate idea for the rear.

Interior would consist of the Recaro sport seats that some E30's came with, but with a twist. I want mine to have red leather bolsters with a black center in cloth. Black headrest. The rest of the interior shall be black with the following modifications: red needles on instrument cluster, M shift boot (black leather with M stripes), M handbrake boot, cupholder(s) in the center next to handbrake. Red LED's powering the lighting for the switches, if possible, the center lighting to make it brighter, and if I was to be creative, LED-lit instrument cluster in the standard red color. I would want to have a manual sunroof and preferably no ABS so save some weight. No airbags please; the bulky steering wheel with airbag is cheesy in an E30. I'd keep the steering wheel I've got for that, which is the M steering wheel.

All of this is just my dream though. I'll never have the $20,000+ necessary to transform it into reality, but a poor man can dream, eh?
