Michael Vick: What "should" happen next? - United Bimmer Community

So earlier today, Michael Vick pleaded guilty to one count of felony dog fighting. His sentencing is set for 9am on Dec. 10th. Even though the prosecution is recommending 12-14 months in prison with the possibility of a reduced sentence for testifying against others in unrelated cases, what do YOU think SHOULD happen next?

Also, the NFL has indefinitely suspended him, but a formal one year suspension is suspected to be placed effective the day he gets released from prison (whatever day that may be)

So, now's your chance to weigh in on the fate of the highest paid player in NFL history.

I think he should get a 5 million dollar fine, 10 Year min. sentence without parole, and be permanently suspended from the NFL.

What he did was an example of unbelievable ignorance, arrogance, and complete disgusting moral failure.

He is a sports hero, lots of kids look up to him as an idol, he let all of them down, his team down, and his fans down.

Here is what he was doing. Basically he has property in Virginia and he keeps dog on this property in a place he and his friends call "the bad newz kennel" I kid you not, they spell it with a "z". And at this place, he and his buddies raise dogs (pitbulls, dobermans and such) to be vicious and blood thirsty. Then they take two dogs and everyone places a bet on a dog.

After this they put both the dogs in some kind of arena and they kill each other, literally they fight to the death.

Vick and his friends also executed several dogs that refused to fight.

This practice is highly illegal, cruel, and unethical.

Dog fighters have even been know to throw kittens to dogs to give them a taste for blood.

To me the Vick news is just like the Pacman Jones news and just like every other sports guy that does stupid things that will damage or ruin their carreers. It's a waste to even pay attention to it. Now for the next couple of weeks that is what is going to be all over the news. As a person I hope he learned from his costly mistake, because his whole reputation and life are completely damaged.

while this is all true and it was a terrible thing, i think it getting too much damn news coverage just because he is another retarded nfl star. im sick of shit like this. when a redneck does the same thing, you probably dont hear about it.

just fyi too, the falcons are one of my favorite teams.

this is blown way out of proportion.

he did something dumb. he should be punished. Thats it.

The kids that looked up to him will realize what he did was wrong ild hope.

but really...theres much worse things going on in the world. A guy killing some dogs is not all that bad.(not saying its right.)

I don't think they should give him time in the slammer, he go on probation a couple of years and pay like a 2 millions dollar fine. I think he's been through enough after losing his 120 million dollar contract with the falcons and also his 70 million dollar contract with nike. I don't understand why its legal in all states to hunt for deer and other animals but when it comes to dog fighting it is illegal, I don't think its right but I think if you're going to go after dog fighting they should also make hunting illegal.

I agree with most of you to some extent. I thing there is a slight difference between hunting and dog fighting seeing as the deer dies a quick painless death in most cases, and in dog fighting the winning dog suffers through it's injuries until the next fight where it either gets mauled to dead or wins and gets new painful injuries. I also believe he should be punished, but no more then anyone else who did the exact same thing as he did. Another thing I find disturbing is that some murders get off with less then Vick could possibly get, same goes for the NBA ref, what he did is wrong but giving him 30 or so years.......30 years even as an option is stupid.

End semi-rant.

Yea but why does the governmnet hold dogs to a higher standard than other animals? Can you explain that to me?
