Sorry, I've been MIA....its been a crazy week (see members section)...anyway, the
BMW Dealership collision shop told me $400 for a new hood (apparantly the hood is cracked-don't ask me how) and full paint over the hood within 3 days.
I thought that was pricey...so I took it to my buddy's autoshop that he takes his Civic and Camry to all the time and the guys there said the hood could be hammered and welded back and repainted for $300 in two days!
GREAT!!! but the only concern is that their shop is VERY cluttered and dirty (even got a dirty dog shitting and pissing on the premisses.) and it's in a very urban ghetto neighborhood and whiles I was there it seems like they work on most their cars on the sidewalk out on the street and I never saw a paint booth-they were spraying the frame of a Rav4 out in the backyard....this sort of bothered me...
so I'll be back to BMW on monday.
However, the guy did offer to paintmatch my sideskirts and detail my rear bumper for $150...BMW wants $300 for this.
So later on I may have them do that.... i don't think you need a booth to paint the skirts...plus I wont worry about someone walking by and stealing my battery cuz' my car could be locked the whole time...
