What happened a long as time ago was the president of Mexico borrowed a ton of money from the US, England, and France. And of course Mexico could not pay it back, so the US dismissed their debt being hte nice guys we are, England said they can pay it later, but France said "I want my F*cking money!" SO, France hauls ass down to Mexico and tries to take over. France wants to dismiss the well loved president and install an emperor. However, at one battle (forget the name), mexico fights off the French army. Cinco de Mayo is also not celebrated in Mexico very much, they celebrate their independence which is in September, but Cinco de Mayo is only celebrated in the US because Mexican Americans wanted a way to relate back to their heritage together. Have a happy history day.
