custom fiberglass sub box

so i caught the car audio bug again not too long ago and told you guys i had a suprise. well i never actually posted pics of it so i thought i'd do it tonight while i'm procrastinating from studying for finals. (only one final and its computer science 101, so maybe i am studying... )

anywho here are the pics.
started with fleece. cut out a base that would fit against the rear of the back seat. then cut out two rings for the sub, one that was the top mount cutout and then another that would go around the actual mounting level making it flush. cut some wood dowels to give it height and suspend the rings wher i wanted them. then i wrapped a fleece blanket around it all and stapled it to the base

used fiberglass resin to cover the sheet once over to get both sides of the fiberglass mat wet and sticky, then resin over the top, this is after one coat of mat. (don't worry too much about looking perfect at this stage because there will be much more finishing work, just try to keep the air pockets minimal

This is after the 3 layers of fiberglass and some extensive 40 & 60 grit sanding. you can see the wood dowel inside the box still

This is the close up of my ring design to keep the top of the sub flush with the box design

Profile of the box to give a better view of my design and shape

after using body filler to fill in imperfections in the fiberglass and sanding it down a little. the more work you do here the better the final product will look! believe me sanding is your friend. you can also see the DAP expanding foam i put inside the box to creat the right amount of airspace for the alpine type R 10" sub

here is the final product, i am going to go back and do some more filler and sanding, i thought the paper i was using was fine enough but some scratches showed up through the paint.

what do you guys think???
