Just letting you guys know... since about 6pm this evening, the past *counts* 7 hours... I've spent optimizing UB for search engines.
I've loaded every single different page on the, and gone through probably tens of thousands of lines of code by hand, optimizing everything for search engines to come in, get the information they're looking for, and get out. Quick, efficient, and accurate.
There are no more link loops, all anchor tags have relationships appropriately setup, and now the path of a web crawler should be as linear as possible.
Will we see a thousand users online tomorrow because of this? Probably not. However with this, I expect to gain much favor with Google over the next month or two.
The only thing I have not finished is the mod_rewrite engine for thread and post filenames, but I'm waiting for some more responses on an SEO (search engine optimization) forum I'm a member of before I do that, to ensure it's done correctly.
Also I'm considering eliminating the homepage completely, so when you go to
www.unitedbimmer.com, you're staring at the forums. Would there be any objections to that? Talk to me! lol
That's about it. I'm still working on a few final bugs, but I've gotten most of them out now. The major one I just finished was restoring thousands of posts and threads to the General Automotive forum, and the two biggest outstanding bugs are the breadcrumb text at the top while viewing a thread, and the RMC integration (the new version of vbulletin obliterated my code

).
Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted, but let me know what you think about the homepage idea.
Thanks!
