Try and get a used M5 rear sway bar or buy one from the dealer. It can make a huge difference in decreasing the understeer.
Plus, I would buy a used M5 shifter. It will reduce the throw significantly in your fiver.
Go to m5board.com and list in the classified that you want the rear M5 sway bar and the m5 shifter. I did that and I got several responses. I wouldn't pay more than $20 plus shipping for the shifter (it is a great price considering the aftermarket SSK for the E39 are several hundred bucks). For the rear sway bar, I wouldn't pay more than $80 plus shipping and buy new bushings and brackets from the dealer or bavauto.com. Both of these installs will take you less than one hour.

Sweet, but I have a auto tranny....

not sure if that would help any, unless I got it all wrong (which is a possbility at this point). But the rear sway, yes, I am going to get one of those after I get all my brake pads changed. And thanks a ton for the info dude.
