Look at a regular gas stove, the gas fuels the burner that creates the heat, in a propane grill it's the same principal, gas being burned to create heat. BUT, my friend, charcoal takes a while to burn yes, but there is a level of flavor that permeates from the charcoal bits, that is ingrained in the meat. It gives that slight chard flavor that is the imbodyment of grilling. Hence my vote for charcoal.
