^ Nice... slutty amphibians!
I didn't spend a dime... mom forked it all over, it is her pet after all. All I did was find out the information, get the parts, and set it up.
I should add, Teg, that the start up costs are alot for any animal/pet that is caged but the monthly costs are much less. A dog/cat will have a lower initial cost (adoption) but the monthly costs are much higher. Where as, I/we paid $400 now for a 65gallon glass tank plus all the neccessary components to make it run, the monthly costs would come down to ~$5/month for basic food + veggies that we may not eat. A Dog would need vet bills plus those massive bags of food (~$10+/bag/biweekly). So yea, in the end, I/we actually are paying less.
Just in opposition, I used to have rats, as pets. Inital cost was $100 for cage + $12/mo for bedding + food. Damn things cost me so much in vet bills, tumor ridden inbred critters....Doctor wanted $500+ for the removal of a tumor from a 1 lb rat or $25 for putting her to sleep... Fuckers.
