He showed me his and I looked at the e39s....and the e39 was indeed gold...and his was not. He said, an indicator of EWS.

The problem is that a 95 M3 DOES have EWS. Says so in my TIS.
You maybe talking about EWS-II, which either came with OBD-II, or later on in the decade.
