Why havent there been? If this was going on at a time when an administration that didnt recieve huge campaign funding and support from oil companies was in office, then there would have been serious alegations made towards the oil companies regarding price gouging, and perhaps even another investigation like the one performed by the senate in 2k3....

yes, everythings the governments fault. not the individuals running the gas station,not capitalism. and obviously not Opec. wich is a cartel, that is a combination of independent business organizations formed to regulate production, pricing, and marketing of goods by the members. opec regulates how much oil is extracted to keep the price artificaily high. when a company starts to sell oil cheaper than opec wants. they will quickly drop thier prices. eliminating the benifit to that first company and then raise the prices up again.
imagine you have a local burger place selling the same thing as a big mac for a 1.25 . then mcdonalds says enough of that, we run the burger cartel around here. and now the local mcdonalds sells the big mac for a dollar. pretty soon the local place cant keep prices low. they raise thier price back up then so does mcdonalds
and im not the least bit ashamed to say. we need to secure fairly priced resources what ever it takes
