I think the ibooks start at $999 but as a student you can get a discount, top of the line powerbooks are going to top out at $2000+, the 12in powerbook starts around $1500. A mac should also interface with your pc network no problem and all of them come with airport cards (wireless). But please don't get an apple just because whiteshark demanded it
