Spieluhr answered this one pretty well. it is a stand alone ecu that will replace the factory obd2 ecu and allow me to custom tune the maps for my turbo project i plan to start next spring. just unplug the stock ecu and plug this one in. no hacking up the wiring harness, it is plug and play
best of all vic at sias tuning can give me a pretty good base map to start with and then do remote tunes to get everything right. i decided to go with the tec3 because i can learn to tune it myself and it would not be very practical to do an obd1 conversion or ship my car to aa or nick g for a custom obd2 tune. the tec3 allows every engine functgion to be reprogrammed exactly as you want it.

It's a stand-alone fuel management system I think that will allow him to completely custom tune his ECU to work with whatever he puts in his car. He can plug in his laptop and remap everything. It is essential some times for guys that go the custom F/I route.
