Okay, I just opened Lost Topic for testing.
I've found a few bugs in it, but all-in-all it seems pretty stable.
The only thing is after you have more than 2 people in it, it gets really, really laggy.
It's a completely AJAX based chatroom, meaning no refreshing, and no java applets (all dynamic html and javascript).
I've tested it with a variety of browsers, but had mixed results.
I'm thinking if this test doesn't go very well I scrap it, but we'll see what happens.
