Exhaust...
Alrighty... I'm looking at replacing my muffler. The original tip has gone to crap (imo), and I have to repair a leak that's been "ghetto'd" by one of the previous owners. Here are some general designs I'm looking at:
What's everyone's thoughts/opinions?

No no no no... these are just the tip designs I'm looking at. I'll stick with a muffler that has the stock design/sound... but want a different tip design.

Nothing that bends. Nothing that is bigger than 3". Everything else is game. Why don't you get an exhaust too?

$$$ is the main issue. I would love to get an all new exhaust system with custom tips (I'm leaning towards something like the dual square - #2), if anyone knows where I could get a new, custom setup for relatively cheap, please let me know.

Yea #4 is the best. #3 is just gay on most cars as well it tends to cause the exhaust soot to settle on the paint. Saw it on a white VW and it looked really bad.

Ah, VTEC. All of the lag, none of the turbo. It's like waiting for bad sex

I'm leaning towards something like #3... I think it'll look good on the back of my E23, it's got the more boxy body... we'll see I suppose.
Next stop: Exhaust design.

Really? Other than the shape of the tip I think #2 and #4 are pretty much a toss up. I figured with the shape of the E23 #2 would be nice. Shouldn't have any sound difference with the different shape.
I'll do some photochoppin' with 2 & 4 and post 'em up here in a bit.

I live in a town of rice/hicks (aka RollaMo) and I see #1 and #2 on just about every piece of crap putting around town. So that's kind of ruined it for me. Plus, BMW has never had a square tip. I think.

True, I can not think of a model that had a square tip on the exhaust... we'll have to see here in a couple hours. Once I get my stow done for the evening I'll pull the car into the warehouse and snap a few shots to do some playin' around with. I've never personally seen a ricer with square tips, always the coffee can. I've seen muscle cars with square exhaust, as well as trucks... but that's been it.

So here's the mock-up of each tip (2 & 4):
the square ones look biger just because it was a larger image I was working with and I didn't bother making them the same dims.

Both look cool, the round keep it "classic looking"
Re: custom exhaust; shop around locally - you'll be surprised at how many shops have pipe benders and can do custom fabs. I found a local shop that had a bender and made me duals (for my "bird") from the headers back for under $200. Note: I highly doubt you'll get stainless for that $$$
