apparantly the forward clutch pack burned says my tranny shop

and that if anything but that went wrong its <thousands> of dollars to fix...his words not mine .. there isnt another place to take it around here my state sucks <sd>
the car only cost me 4800 and everything else on the car works great its clean and runs great for 160000 miles
. i would like to put a manuall transmission in it but i dont kno what tranny would fit and yes i have done auto _ manual swaps b4 i know they suck but im not spending 4k on a trans when the cars worth 4k ...
and i cant sell it for what i owe so im kinda stuck .....arnt i?:wtf :ranting :angry :cry

that sucks bad. but a 735i with a manual would kick ass! you can try getting another ZF auto tranny from a junked E32.

i just read that they did make 735i manuals. . .

Automatics do suck, even though I have one, oh well I'll have a manual eventually:rolleyes

xsperf 07-27-2006 11:00 PM

oh btw, a tranny for a 535i manual would most likely fit, however you would need new parts like another differential and im not sure, but maybe a driveshaft

Go to Ebay. You can get a Remanurfactured one for under $1,000 with a 1yr warrenty. Then call around your area and see who could install for the cheapest. Shouldn't be more than $800.00 Labor. So $1,000 + $800.00 = $1,800. Not bad considering that my wifes Honda Passport Tranny was $2,200 Parts & Labor. These ZF4hp Trannys last a long time if you service them properly and keep the fluid CLEAN. You will get less service in the 7 and 5 series compared to the 3 becuase of the weight ratio. Hope this info helped..

Im a newbie to this site and tryen to post on the forum. My neighbors gave me 1988 735I I charged the batter and fixed the flat tired but they said the brakes were bad and they are, you have to push the paddle to the floor to get it to brake but then it feels like the abs is kicken in do i have a bad abs sensor or do i really really need some new brake pads?

witeshark 04-01-2007 10:13 PM

I bet the pads need replacing and the rotors may need a look too

bro, do 88 735s even have ABS?

^I would guess yes since some e30s had them and they generally trickle that stuff down the product line.

You might need to flush your brake fluid almost sounds like you have air in the system, granted worn pads would make for more pedal travel. I would suggest changing pad/rotors and putting fresh brake fluid into it.
