Unhappy breaks/front end

i have 1998 740i and when i touch the break at high speeds the front end gets violent. so i changed the tie rod assembly and then got a front end alignment problem got little better i also checked for any play underneth and everything feels tight. wheel bearings do not have play. any help would be great.

First thing I'd suspect is the rotors. Have them inspected for lateral runout, and corrected, if necessary. If they tell you it's 'warped', go to someone else, because they may not fix it using the correct procedure . . rotors don't actually warp; the term is a misnomer.

I would have to agree with Dudesky it definitely sounds like rotors, the only way you should fix that on these cars is to replace DO NOT RESURFACE them you will make the problem worse and the car will not stop as well.

if you change rotors, might as well change pads while you'r at it

Merely replacing the rotors often doesn't cure the wobble caused by lateral runout, because the defect is in the hub. Did they cut the new rotors to match the hub? here's more detailed info:

http://www.brakeinfo.com/html/lateral.html
http://mta.org.nz/?id=751&eid=427

If the runout was accounted for, then you might have worn suspension bushings. I don't know much about the 7 series, but on a 3 series, worn control arm bushings can manifest itself in front end shimmy when braking at high speeds.

if its the same problem, if you are going at a low speed, like 40mph and you hit the brakes hard what happens?

ahh, could it possibly be while you are turning, hence why there is only a problem on one side
