xm radio into 2002 745i
 

I have a 2002 745i and would like to integrate xm radio into the existing system. Has anyone had any real luck with this?

Hello, I work for BMW and I can tell you first hand I have seem some terrible installs with aftermarket sat radio. I will look into this for you on Monday if you can wait, by the way does it have to be xm what about sirius?

Yeah, just do Sirius. It is integrated into the iDrive system.

I am going to explore the sirius. I have contacted my BMW dealer and they are checking on the availability of the connection.

I am open to the sirius. I will contact my local bmw dealer and see if they can help.

Will most BMW dealers do this install?

Ok, I take that back. We have installed a XM radio...or at least fixed....to get the XM radio working in an e38.

I wonder if your e65 has the satelite radio prep wire. Hmmm prolly not...but I think they can install it.

I've been searching the web for same year and models...and I've seen them out there....so yes, it's possible... but you have to call your dealership to have them do it. Otherwise....you'll be up a creek without a paddle if you try and do it yourself. :eek

I know FOR SURE it's possible on e65s/e66s 2004 and newer.

Call the dealership and they'll tell you how it can be done.

Even if you get directions on how to install it yourself you will still have the issue of coding it to the vehicle, and the only wany to code your xm radio to your 7 is to program it into it, which only BMW dealers can do.

But whatever you do dont go to circuit city and get it installed. There used to working on honduh's which dont have fiber opcti wiring running through them.
