computer smarter than me ?
ok i just bought a 1992 735i and it says 2 things in the dash code bar ...it says brake linings .... and it says brake light circuit ... now i have checked the brakes they are good plenty of pad left and the brake lights work so does the rest fo the car acually ... wtf how do i clear it without taking to a dealer there isnt a bmw dealer within 600 miles of me ands i heard u need a special tool its bugging me even tho i kno nothings wrong
Stupid question, but did you check the 3rd brake light? Many of BMW's sensors measure resistance to electrical current. You may have dirty contacts or some corrosion/debris that isn't allowing the current to flow unimpeded, thereby triggering the brake light circuit. Try pulling the light bulbs, making sure you have the correct ones in there, and cleaning where it contacts the socket. Sometimes just changing the bulbs helps.
