Help!! 1990 735i Trans dipstick

Hi! this is my first post with United Bimmer.I recently purchased my first 735i and today I serviced the automatic transmission. My problem is simple but a problem none the less. I cannot get my trans dipstick out all the time so I am assuming there is a trick to doing it. Right now I need to get it out so I can add fluid. Can anyone help?
