e23 trans issues
 

Ok i have an 86 735i ... love this car although is is for sale. if i put it in drive and drive away for the first few stops everything will be fine. then it will stop up shifting if i stop and drive away it wont shift out of 1st but iv i move the selector to 3rd you wouldn't know there was even a problem at all shift normal just obviously only to 3rd gear. put it back in drive you can continue on your marry way but no up shift to 4th. downshift for any reason, stop, mash it to pass and i will not shift back into 3rd or 2nd until you move the selector back into 3rd. i drained the pan and changed the filter last night with no change. any ideas on what is wrong ... i'm a mechanic but not a BMW one and this has me stumped :dunno
