i had this on my 535i e39 ,sometimes when the bag light comes on it doesnt always mean thairs a fault, mine came on after i had taken the front door panel off,and discanected the air bag that was liveing thair,so i must had just tripped it all off, anyways i got myselfe a diagnostics fault code reader, the one that goes in a serial port on a lap top or pc then into the cars obd round socket in the engine bay, this peace of kit was well worth it ,it found the air bag system said thairs a ERROR, then it said do i want to reset the error i said yes and the ecu reset the bag light and it went out on the instrument panel .so the only way to rid this prob is with a fault code reader but make sure if ya get one that it can reset your faults to .
