what should I look for in my next BMW

I am ready to purchase a BMW. I currently have a Mercedes 500sel and it gives me too many problems. My Range Rover same thing.
What should I look for in a 740iL? I am leaning towards a 2000 or 2001 model. Any areas that one should pay extra attention when doing an inspection? I've read many posts and guidelines on this forum, but just need to know more.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Best thing to do would be to take whatever vehicle you get serious on to the dealership and have them do a pre-sale inspection
