87 L7

Are there any major problems that these cars had/have? Any body know abut how much they cost to maintain and could it stand up to probably about 500 miles+ a week? "Second owner 1987 BMW ambassador model. Very rare! 17 miles per gallon combined, six cylinder, 210 hp. Beautiful all leather Interior. Sunroof. Upgraded sound system. 125,800 miles , clean car fax, . I just had the car smoged last week and registration renewed. The engine is perfect. $4000 worth of repairs including new radiator, pressure hoses for power steering system, New exhaust system with oxygen sensors, new catalytic converter, new power steering pump, almost brand new tires. I just bought a new car and I need to sell this one. I have reduced the price from $2885.00 to $1995.00 for quick sale."

well, remember, they are basically just like an 87 7 series, except i think a bit longer and a few more options. in terms of engine/reliability, just compare to a 7 series, tis the same engine, the only thing you do have to worry about (i think) is the increased options may only be things that could go wrong, but if the car has no electrical problems or anything like that then you should be all set. it sounds like he spent a ton of money fixing it, and "he just bought a new car" sounds like a BS reason for selling(why did he buy the new car?), i guess you can say every car comes to a point where it just 'starts talking' and the repairs follow one after another. Either way, the stuff he replaced seems to be just out of old age(like rubber components, etc etc) but the fact that he "reduced the price from 2885 to 1995 for a quick sale" means hes desperate. personally, id give this car a VERY thorough look before considering, and that being said, 1995 is a killer deal

oh, and after writing all that, id just like everyone to know i know absolutely NOTHING about these cars, so dont hold me accountable for anything said :)

actually, wheres the guy who has the black L7 and was just given an older free BMW?

The E23 L is for Leather. Leather on everything!

E32 started the L for Long-added length in the back seat.

E23 is mostly pre electronic but still is BMW complicated.

Original AZ car? Some BMWs in that age range didn't like salt.

Mechanically it should do at least 200,000 and possibly make it to 300,000. But you have to fix what does break as it breaks to get to those kind of miles.
