E38 door lock problem
Hi guys, hope someone can help me out with this! Last year the drivers door wouldn't open, I took the car to the main agent, they bent me over and shafted me for £400 to open the door and fit a new actuator.
This time, it's the front passenger door with a similar problem. I managed to remove the outer handle and unclip the actuator, it seems to be working fine. I assumed that if the actuator is removed, the door would open if the two levers on the lock assembly which slide inside the actuator are in the correct position?
Not So, the door won't open, I'm thinking that the lock is broken inside? Grateful for any wisdom on the subject.
cheers

E38 door
On my E32 it was a cracked door lock actuator bracket that was the culprit. I removed door panel and welded the bracket and that solved the problem. Go to http://www.e38.org or http://bmwe32.masscom.net and check thee for repairs.
