I guess I'd consider my immediate family lower/middle class.... neither parent college educated.... a diesel mechanic and a factory worker....
I haven't asked for or received any money from my parents since I was 13 (with the exception of b-day's, x-mas, graduation, etc.)...
I've paid for (and am paying for) everything myself by working 20-40hrs a week at part-time jobs (cars, school, rent, bills upon bills) ..... all tuition/school expenses I couldn't cover myself are being covered by my student loans (I think I'm up to $48,000 or so) which I will be paying off myself eventually
I don't resent the wealthy... most of my friends and their families are flppin loaded.... I just hope those born into wealthy families don't take what they have for granted....
while most of my friends are out partyin all weekend.... I'm workin..... just to pay for things that they don't even need to worry about
