Looking at a 2008 650I would like some info
Hi all,
I am new to the BMW auto world, and I am looking at the 2008 650I. I have read reviews from where they say it looks horrible, to fantastic looking.
What are some of your opinions here? What have you heard from problems to thumbs up.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Mark

Best car BMW makes in its current line up. Only major problems I see them comming in for are control moduels going bad, which are covered under warranty and a few recall problems which are easy fixes. Since the rims are 19 inch with low profile tires the rims do tend to get bent easly. Are you looking at the coupe or the vert? Auto or 6 speed? Eather way they both are great cars, but pricey.
The 08 have the updated exterior, front end, rocker pannels, trunk lid. Also the interior is changed around a bit. The 6 series are personaly my favorite car BMW makes, a coupe with a beefy v8 makes me drool.

Hi Antiburn,
I am looking at the auto, but there are two models. Sport and Steptronic. One has the paddle shifters and one does not. I tried the SMG car and it sucked in auto mode, very choppy shift in auto.
Any info on the auto tranny would be appreciated.
I want to get the Sport Package, Cold Weather Package, Premium Sound Package, Heads Up, Stratus Gray, and Black on Black interior.
What about the Idrive, any info or problems?

The auto trans are the same, only difference is that you can get paddle shifters.
SMG tend to be very choppy as you said, some like it some dont.
Ide reccomend the active steering, its very nice to have in parking situations.
With the I drive, its been the same sorty since they came out, complicated to use but once you learn how its easy.
With an 08 model alot of the querks have been worked out already so theres not much to go wrong.

Thanks,, It will round out the collection, but this is one I get to drive everyday! This one I will leave stock for a while. I bought a Viper in 2000 off the show room floor, drove it home pulled the motor and super charged it. I cannot leave anything stock, but I will fight the urge for a while.
